India’s Fiscal Year Direct Tax Collections Surge 13.13% to Rs 21.26 Lakh Crore, Driven by Advance Tax Growth

India’s net direct tax collections have surged by 13.13% to over Rs 21.26 lakh crore for the fiscal year, fueled by a significant boost in advance tax collections. Corporate tax collections experienced a robust growth of 12.54%, whereas non-corporate tax collections, which encompass personal income tax, witnessed a remarkable spike of 20.47%. Additionally, the Securities Transaction Tax (STT) recorded a substantial uptick of nearly 56%. This growth in direct tax collections signifies a positive trend in revenue generation for the Indian government, reflecting a buoyant economy and improved compliance. The increase in tax collections is indicative of a healthier financial landscape and bodes well for the country’s fiscal health.
