Two residents of Rajkot were recently caught withdrawing money from fixed deposits (FDs) belonging to their deceased relatives in Ahmedabad. The incident came to light when the bank authorities grew suspicious of the men’s behavior. The two men were identified as cousins and were attempting to withdraw around Rs. 60,000 from the FDs. They claimed that they were the legal heirs of the deceased account holders. However, upon investigation, it was revealed that the men had forged signatures and documents to withdraw the money. The bank authorities immediately informed the police, who arrested the two men for fraud and forgery. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of proper documentation and legal procedures when dealing with the finances of deceased family members. It also highlights the need for vigilance on the part of financial institutions to prevent such fraudulent activities. The police are conducting further investigations into the matter to uncover any potential accomplices or additional fraudulent activities. This case underscores the significance of following legal protocols and ethical practices in financial transactions, especially in cases involving inheritance and deceased individuals.
