The Indian cabinet has given the green light to two ropeway projects in Uttarakhand, paving the way for a substantial reduction in travel time to two popular pilgrimage sites. The approved projects, namely the Sonprayag to Kedarnath and Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib ropeways, will be developed under a public-private partnership model with an estimated cost of Rs 6,811 crore. These ropeways are set to offer swift and environmentally friendly transportation options, aiming to enhance pilgrimage activities and tourism in the region. The initiatives are anticipated to not only facilitate easier access to these religious destinations but also attract a higher number of visitors seeking spiritual solace and natural beauty in Uttarakhand.
