ETH/BTC at 5-Year Low, Altcoin Rotation Suggested – Time to Shift from Ethereum to Stronger Alts

Ethereum has reached its lowest value against Bitcoin since mid-2020, prompting a crypto trader to suggest a shift into stronger altcoins. Economist and trader Alex Kruger advised in a March 12 post to consider moving from ETH to higher beta altcoins for better performance. The ETH/BTC ratio, indicating Ether’s strength relative to Bitcoin, currently sits at 0.02281, the lowest in nearly five years. Both Bitcoin and Ether are trading below key price levels, with Bitcoin at $83,667 and Ether at $1,907. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index shows a “Fear” score of 45, up 11 points from the previous day. While some anticipate the start of an altcoin season with the ETH/BTC ratio bottoming out, other indicators suggest Bitcoin may dominate the market in the near future. CoinMarketCap’s Altcoin Season Index reads 13 out of 100, leaning towards Bitcoin season. Crypto trader Hansolar mentioned that it could be a Bitcoin season throughout the year, citing last year’s brief altcoin season. Bitcoin’s dominance currently stands at 62.15%, according to TradingView. When Ether hit its all-time high in November 2021, Bitcoin’s dominance was around 42%.
