Rupee plunges as global economic worries drive dollar bids, closes at 87.33 against USD in sharpest fall.

The Indian rupee experienced a significant decline against the US dollar, marking its most substantial single-day drop in a fortnight to close at 87.33. This downward trend was predominantly fueled by heightened demand for the dollar and the depreciation of the Chinese yuan. Although certain banks intervened by selling dollars to provide some support, the rupee was still under pressure due to widespread selling in the domestic stock markets and prevailing global economic uncertainties.
