India’s inaugural frozen zoo, established within Darjeeling’s Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, is safeguarding the DNA of threatened Himalayan species through cryogenic techniques. The primary objective of this project is to secure genetic resources for the sustained protection of these animals and potentially facilitate assisted reproduction procedures. This innovative approach marks a significant step towards biodiversity preservation in the region.
