Municipal authorities in Nagpur, India, recently carried out demolitions of properties associated with individuals suspected of involvement in riots, including Fahim Khan, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the unrest. The operations were conducted under tight security provided by the local police. However, the Bombay High Court intervened and put a stop to any further demolitions, deeming the actions as heavy-handed. The authorities defended their actions by pointing out planning violations and expressed their intention to persist in targeting unauthorized constructions that are connected to the individuals accused of instigating the violence. The riots resulted in one fatality and left more than 40 people injured.
