India is poised to significantly increase its solar PV module manufacturing capacity to 125 GW by 2030, a substantial rise from the current 80 GW. This growth is in line with the government’s focus on boosting local manufacturing and providing incentives to the industry. Minister Pralhad Joshi emphasized the importance of expanding solar cell capacity to 40 GW as part of India’s goal to double its renewable energy capacity by 2030 and emerge as a key player in sustainable energy on the global stage. The country’s efforts will also lead to enhanced connectivity in more villages, further contributing to the widespread adoption of solar energy.
