India is poised for significant growth in solar PV module manufacturing, with projections indicating a rise to 125 GW by 2030 from the current 80 GW. The solar cell capacity is also expected to increase to 40 GW. Minister Pralhad Joshi emphasized the importance of local manufacturing and the incentives provided by the government to boost the sector. India has set ambitious targets to double its renewable energy capacity by 2030, aiming to establish itself as a global leader in sustainable energy. The expansion of connectivity will also extend to more villages, ensuring wider access to clean and affordable energy sources.
