Kathmandu witnessed violent clashes on Friday as pro-monarchy demonstrators rallied for the reinstatement of ex-King Gyanendra Shah. The tumult resulted in two fatalities and more than 30 injuries, prompting the enforcement of a curfew and the deployment of the military. Demonstrators, expressing discontent with corruption and political turmoil, set vehicles ablaze and ransacked buildings while security personnel resorted to tear gas and water cannons to disband the crowds.
