Kathmandu witnessed violent clashes on Friday as pro-monarchy protesters took to the streets demanding the reinstatement of ex-King Gyanendra Shah. The turmoil resulted in two fatalities and more than 30 injuries, prompting the enforcement of a curfew and the deployment of military personnel. Demonstrators, expressing discontent over corruption and political unrest, set ablaze vehicles and damaged buildings while security forces resorted to tear gas and water cannons to scatter the crowds.
