In 1990, Iyad Ag Ghali spearheaded a fresh Tuareg insurgency, culminating in a ceasefire the following year post initial successes. Ghali became the public face of the rebellion, notably attending peace negotiations on behalf of the Tuareg community. However, as the conflict subsided and his comrades transitioned into governmental roles or civilian existence, Ghali found himself at a pivotal juncture. While global acclaim was directed towards the band Tinariwen, whom he had supported in their ascent, questions lingered about the fate of his own revolutionary ideals.
