The Indian rupee showed strength against the dollar, closing at 85.43 and gaining seven paise. The initial weakness of the rupee was overcome by the weakening US dollar, driven by recession concerns and inflation. Despite facing higher tariffs on Indian imports from the US, they remain lower than those imposed on imports from other countries. Alongside a recovery in Asian currencies, Indian equities performed well, outshining the negative opening of US stocks.
