In a significant development, a Punjab court has handed a life sentence to Bajinder Singh, a self-professed pastor, in connection with a rape case dating back to 2018. Recently convicted, Singh found himself facing fresh allegations from two more women subsequent to his sentencing. The Akal Takht secretariat, a prominent religious institution, has decried the tardiness in law enforcement’s response and has pledged unequivocal backing for the victims, encouraging them to maintain faith in the judicial process.
