The judicial custody of Ranya Rao and several others involved in the gold smuggling case has been extended until April 21. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence’s investigation uncovered that Rao was responsible for smuggling 14.56 kg of gold, resulting in a customs duty loss of Rs 4.45 crore. Rao, who was arrested on March 3, has been unsuccessful in securing bail as the seriousness of the charges against her has led to repeated denials of her bail applications. Proceedings under Section 108 are currently ongoing in this high-profile case.
