The Indian government has announced a price hike for LPG cylinders, raising the cost by Rs 50. This increase affects both Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries, whose prices will now be Rs 550, and general users, who will pay Rs 853. The decision to raise prices was explained by Union petroleum minister Hardeep Puri as a necessary step to address the Rs 43,000 crore losses incurred by oil marketing companies.
