Anbumani Ramadoss calls on TN government to halt Periyar University’s plan to introduce engineering courses.

Anbumani Ramadoss, Member of Parliament and PMK leader, has urged the Tamil Nadu government to halt Periyar University’s plans to introduce engineering courses. Ramadoss expressed concerns that the move could lead to a decline in the quality of engineering education in the state. He emphasized the need to focus on enhancing the existing engineering colleges rather than opening new ones. Ramadoss pointed out that many engineering colleges are already struggling with low admissions and stressed the importance of improving infrastructure and faculty quality in those institutions. The PMK leader also highlighted the issue of engineering graduates facing difficulties in finding employment due to a lack of necessary skills. He called on the government to address these challenges before considering the expansion of engineering education. Ramadoss’s plea comes amidst a growing debate in Tamil Nadu about the proliferation of engineering colleges and the need for stringent regulations to ensure high educational standards. The state government is yet to respond to his request to reconsider Periyar University’s decision.
