The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has given the green light to a Rs 1,332 crore project aimed at doubling the 104 km Tirupati-Pakala-Katpadi railway line that traverses Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. This significant infrastructure initiative is set to bolster rail capacity, alleviate congestion, and bolster connectivity to important pilgrimage destinations in the region. Additionally, the project is expected to ramp up freight capacity by 4 million tonnes per annum, curbing CO2 emissions, and fostering regional growth and job creation.
