The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has given the green light to a Rs 1,332 crore project aimed at doubling the 104 km Tirupati-Pakala-Katpadi railway line that connects Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. This significant infrastructure development initiative is set to bolster rail capacity, alleviate congestion, and bolster connectivity to important pilgrimage destinations. Moreover, the project is expected to ramp up freight capacity by 4 million tonnes per annum, leading to a reduction in CO2 emissions. Additionally, this move is anticipated to foster regional growth and generate employment opportunities in the area.
