The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has given the green light to a significant project worth Rs 1,332 crore for the doubling of the 104 km Tirupati-Pakala-Katpadi railway line that traverses through Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. This development aims to boost rail capacity, alleviate congestion, and bolster connectivity to prominent pilgrimage destinations in the region. Furthermore, the project is anticipated to escalate freight capacity by 4 million tonnes per annum, curtail CO2 emissions, and stimulate regional growth and job opportunities.
