In preparation for the imminent inauguration of the Navi Mumbai Airport, the Adani Group has announced plans to upgrade Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). As part of these efforts, cargo operations at CSMIA will be temporarily suspended from August 16, 2025, until further notice to allow for airside enhancements such as the construction of new taxiways. During this period, private and charter flights will be redirected to Navi Mumbai Airport, clearing the path for CSMIA’s ambitious redevelopment initiatives, which include the construction of a new Terminal 1. The temporary closure of freighter operations is aimed at facilitating the necessary improvements to enhance the overall efficiency and capacity of CSMIA, ensuring a seamless transition for air traffic once operations resume. Stay tuned for further updates on this significant development in Mumbai’s aviation landscape.
