EU fines Apple, Meta for DMA violations: Apple fined 500M euros, Meta 200M euros for anti-competitive practices.

The European Union recently imposed fines on tech giants Apple and Meta for breaching the Digital Market Act (DMA). Apple was fined 500 million euros for limiting app developers from steering users to more cost-effective alternatives outside the App Store. On the other hand, Meta, formerly known as Facebook, received a penalty of 200 million euros for compelling users to agree to personalized advertisements or pay to opt-out. These fines highlight the EU’s commitment to enforcing regulations that promote fair competition and protect consumer rights in the digital market. The penalties serve as a warning to other tech companies operating in India and globally to adhere to the rules and guidelines set forth by regulatory authorities.
