Supreme Court orders murder charges in Ziaul Rahman’s 2022 death, demands fresh investigation in Uttar Pradesh.

The Supreme Court of India has ordered a new probe into the 2022 death of Ziaul Rahman, overturning earlier court rulings that had imposed a lower charge. Following the autopsy report revealing 14 injuries, the SC has instructed that murder allegations be brought forth. Uttar Pradesh has been granted a six-week deadline to wrap up the proceedings and assign a special prosecutor for the case.
