Fourteen fishermen hailing from Rameswaram, who were detained in Sri Lanka, have successfully repatriated to India. The group of fishermen made their return to Chennai on Friday night amidst a warm reception organized by the Tamil Nadu Fisheries Department, which also facilitated their transportation. The fishermen had faced imprisonment following their arrest by the Sri Lankan Coast Guard on March 17. Through persistent diplomatic negotiations and efforts, the fishermen were eventually released, allowing them to reunite with their families in India. The safe return of these fishermen marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to resolve maritime disputes between India and Sri Lanka.
