Gujarati man from India sentenced in US for $3M scam targeting elderly Americans, ordered to repay victims.

Hardik Jayantilal Patel, a resident of Gujarat, has been handed a prison sentence of almost four years in the United States for his involvement in a $3 million fraud scheme that specifically targeted elderly individuals in America. Patel, along with his accomplices in India, operated call centers where they posed as government officials to deceive their victims into mailing them money. The court has instructed Patel to compensate 85 victims by repaying the total sum of $3.2 million. This case highlights the global reach of fraudulent activities and the importance of international cooperation in combating such crimes.
