Gujarati man sentenced in US for $3M fraud targeting elderly Americans, faces almost 4 years in prison

Hardik Jayantilal Patel, a native of Gujarat, has been handed a prison sentence of almost four years in the United States for his involvement in a $3 million fraud scheme aimed at elderly Americans. Patel, along with his accomplices in India, posed as government officials and used call centers to deceive victims into sending money through postal mail. As part of the court’s ruling, Patel has been instructed to reimburse a total of $3.2 million to 85 individuals who fell prey to the scam. This case sheds light on the prevalence of international fraud and the need for increased vigilance against such criminal activities.
