Hardik Jayantilal Patel, a native of Gujarat, has been handed a sentence of almost four years in a United States prison for his involvement in a $3 million fraud scheme that specifically targeted elderly individuals in America. Operating under the guise of government officials, Patel and his call centers in India used deceptive tactics to convince victims to send money through the mail. Following the court’s ruling, Patel has been instructed to reimburse a total of $3.2 million to 85 victims who fell prey to his fraudulent activities.
