India has made remarkable strides in reducing poverty levels, according to a recent report by the World Bank. The report highlights that between 2011-12 and 2022-23, India successfully lifted 171 million people out of extreme poverty, resulting in a significant drop to 2.3%. When using a poverty line of $3.65 per day, the country managed to uplift a total of 378 million individuals. Despite this substantial progress, India still faces challenges such as youth unemployment and gender disparities in employment, despite an overall increase in employment rates. The efforts to combat poverty have shown positive outcomes, but there is still work to be done to address these lingering issues.
