According to the latest report from the World Bank, India has made remarkable strides in reducing extreme poverty, with 171 million people lifted out of poverty between 2011-12 and 2022-23, bringing the poverty rate down to 2.3%. Using a poverty line of $3.65 per day, a total of 378 million people have been lifted out of poverty during this period. Despite this significant progress, India still faces challenges such as youth unemployment and gender disparities in employment, even as overall employment rates are on the rise. The report underscores the need for continued efforts to address these issues and ensure sustained economic growth and development in the country.
