According to the latest report from the World Bank, India has made substantial strides in reducing extreme poverty, lifting a staggering 171 million people out of poverty between 2011-12 and 2022-23, bringing the poverty rate down to 2.3%. The report also highlights that when using a poverty line of $3.65 per day, a total of 378 million individuals have been lifted out of poverty during this period. Despite this remarkable progress, India still faces challenges such as youth unemployment and gender disparities in employment, even as overall employment rates continue to rise. The data underscores the need for continued efforts to address these issues and ensure sustainable and inclusive economic growth in the country.
