Kaleshwaram project ex-ENC arrested for possessing disproportionate assets, faces corruption charges in Hyderabad.

The former Executive Engineer of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project in Telangana has been arrested for amassing disproportionate assets. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted raids at multiple locations and unearthed assets worth crores of rupees belonging to the accused. The accused, identified as Venugopal, was found to own several houses, flats, agricultural lands, and luxury cars in his and his family members’ names. The ACB also found substantial amounts of cash, gold, and silver during the raids. Venugopal is suspected to have accumulated these assets through corrupt means during his tenure as the Executive Engineer. The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project is one of the flagship irrigation projects in Telangana, aimed at providing water for irrigation and drinking purposes in the state. The arrest of Venugopal has raised concerns about corruption in the implementation of such crucial projects. The ACB has stated that further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of Venugopal’s ill-gotten wealth. The arrest comes as a reminder of the need for stringent measures to prevent corruption and ensure transparency in government projects.
