India is ramping up the development of five hydroelectric projects in Jammu & Kashmir as part of its efforts to increase power generation in the region by 4000MW. The projects in focus are Bursar, Dulhasti II, Swalkote, Uri Stage II, and Kirthai II. Following the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, these projects are expected to be completed within the next 3-5 years. This move is aimed at enhancing the power infrastructure in the region and reducing dependency on external sources for electricity.
