The Indian government recently announced new guidelines for international travelers arriving in India, effective from February 22, 2021. As per the guidelines, travelers need to submit a self-declaration form on the online Air Suvidha portal before their scheduled travel. They must also upload a negative RT-PCR test report conducted within 72 hours of departure. Additionally, travelers will undergo thermal screening upon arrival at the Indian airports. Those coming from the United Kingdom, Europe, and the Middle East are required to undergo a mandatory self-paid confirmatory molecular test upon arrival. Passengers must also provide contact details and undergo seven days of home quarantine, followed by another seven days of self-monitoring. However, travelers with a negative RT-PCR test report can seek exemption from institutional quarantine. These guidelines are part of the government’s efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and its new variants in the country. It is essential for all international travelers to adhere to these guidelines to ensure public health and safety.
