“PC accuses BJP of Constitution damage”

Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of damaging the Constitution during a virtual event organized by the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee. Chidambaram criticized the BJP for allegedly trying to undermine the principles of the Constitution and claimed that the party was attempting to damage the federal structure of the country. He also accused the BJP of attempting to suppress dissenting voices and criticized the government for its handling of the economic situation in the country. Chidambaram highlighted the importance of upholding the values of the Constitution and urged the people to stand up against what he termed as the BJP’s assault on democracy. The virtual event saw the participation of several Congress leaders from Tamil Nadu, who echoed Chidambaram’s sentiments and expressed their concerns about the state of democracy in the country. The event comes at a time when the BJP-led government is facing criticism on various fronts, including its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic slowdown. Chidambaram’s remarks are likely to further escalate the political tensions between the Congress and the BJP in the state.
