From May 1, 2025, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will implement a new ATM transaction framework that will impact free limits and charges for customers across India. Under the revised guidelines, customers in metro areas will be entitled to three free ATM transactions, while those in non-metro areas can avail up to five free transactions. Any transactions exceeding these limits will incur a fee of Rs 23 per transaction. In response to these changes, banks such as HDFC and PNB have started informing their customers about the updated charges. The objective behind these revisions is to encourage the adoption of digital banking services and ensure a more streamlined banking experience for customers nationwide.
