The Atal Pension Yojana (APY) in India has witnessed a significant milestone with over 7.65 crore subscribers and a corpus of Rs 45,974.67 crore as of April. Launched in 2015 to cater to the retirement security needs of unorganised workers, the scheme has been gaining popularity, especially among women who now make up around 48 per cent of the subscribers. Administered by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), APY provides fixed monthly pensions with the goal of ensuring “Pension for All.” The scheme’s success highlights the increasing awareness and participation in securing financial stability during retirement among the Indian populace.
