The prevalence of generic phrases expressing gratitude towards mentors and seeking blessings suggests a lack of originality in the academic work. This study raises questions about the creativity and critical thinking skills of aspiring doctors in their research endeavors. The findings shed light on the “Ctrl+C Ctrl+V” syndrome that seems to have afflicted medical thesis writing in the region. The overuse of cliched expressions not only hampers the quality of the content but also reflects poorly on the academic integrity of the work. Moving forward, it is crucial for educational institutions to emphasize the importance of authentic and innovative research practices among students.
