Ajay Devgn’s team clarifies Juhu property facing BMC action is rented

Ajay Devgn’s office says the Juhu property affected by BMC action is rented out, and says the municipal body’s required changes have been made.

Office distinguishes the property from his residence

Ajay Devgn’s office has clarified that the Juhu property affected by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation action is a separate premises that has been rented out, rather than the actor’s residence. The statement followed reports on October 17 that the civic body had removed portions of construction at the site.

The Indian Express reported the office’s clarification and its account of compliance. NDTV’s separate reporting, credited to Puja Bhardwaj, described the municipal action and the earlier notice. The two accounts address different parts of the development: the BMC’s stated concerns and the response from Devgn’s office.

What the civic body had flagged

According to NDTV’s report, the BMC had objected to internal alterations, partition walls, changes to windows and other work that it said lacked the necessary municipal permissions. A September 10 notice under Section 354A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act directed that work stop and valid documentation be submitted.

NDTV identified the property as a 7,802-square-foot bungalow in Juhu’s Kapole Co-operative Housing Society. Its report described officials removing sections of construction on October 17. That reporting concerns portions of the property; it does not establish that the entire building was demolished.

Devgn’s team says required changes are complete

In the statement carried by The Indian Express, Devgn’s office said it had applied for the requisite permissions and was complying with applicable BMC rules and guidelines. It also said the necessary changes, alterations and modifications required by the municipal body had been carried out.

Those statements represent the office’s response to the reports of civic action. The allegations about permissions remain attributed to the municipal account, while the claim of compliance is attributed to Devgn’s team. The clarification also corrects the impression that the premises involved were the actor’s own home.
