Anurag Kashyap and Vasan Bala Set Aakhri Ride for Oct 31

Anurag Kashyap and Vasan Bala are backing Aakhri Ride, a short thriller starring Chandan Roy and Faisal Malik, for a worldwide October 31 release.

Aakhri Ride is set for a Halloween release

Aakhri Ride, a short thriller presented by Anurag Kashyap and Vasan Bala, is scheduled to arrive worldwide on October 31. The Economic Times and Hindustan Times both reported the release date on October 20, with each identifying Kashyap’s YouTube channel as the release platform. The announcement creates a distinct new project update, separate from the films and event coverage the producers have been associated with previously. Neither report says the short will receive a theatrical release.

Panchayat actors lead the cast

The short features Chandan Roy and Faisal Malik, known for their work on Panchayat, alongside Aamir Dalvi. The reports describe Roy and Dalvi in lead roles, with Malik also among the principal performers. The project’s writers and directors are Vijesh Rajan and Yashoda Parthasarthy, who are making their directing debut with the film, according to the published coverage.

A Mumbai cab driver anchors the thriller

Both reports describe the story as following a Mumbai cab or rideshare driver through a difficult night. Hindustan Times characterises the premise as one desperate night that pushes the driver to an extreme; The Economic Times also presents the film as a thriller centred on a cab driver. The coverage offers a broad premise rather than a full plot synopsis, so details beyond that setup remain undisclosed.

A short-format release on Kashyap’s channel

The announced plan is a global YouTube release on Halloween, October 31, rather than a stated theatrical premiere. The Economic Times says the film is produced by a group including Kashyap and notes the writers’ creative background; Hindustan Times identifies the channel as Oh Short Flips and points to a post from Flip Films. The two reports come from separate publishers, and the Hindustan Times story is credited to ANI.
