Imran Khan files High Court petition against leave-India notice
Imran Khan has filed a Bombay High Court petition contesting the FRRO notice asking him to leave India by October 28, according to reports.
A petition is now before the High Court
Actor Imran Khan has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court challenging the notice directing him to leave India by October 28. The Times of India reports that he submitted the petition electronically on Saturday, October 17. NDTV separately reports on the contents of his challenge to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office notice.
The filing marks a substantive step beyond his lawyers’ earlier announcement that they were preparing a court challenge. Khan is asking the court to intervene in the administrative action. The reports describe a request for relief, rather than a court decision granting it.

According to The Times of India, the petition argues that the notice supplied neither adequate reasons nor a reasonable opportunity for him to be heard. It challenges the process followed by the authorities and seeks urgent intervention to stay the notice. The newspaper identifies the lawyers handling the filing as Zulfiquar Memon, Parvez Memon and Chirag Naik of MZM Legal.
NDTV reports that Khan has also sought protection against deportation, blacklisting and action against his Overseas Citizen of India registration. These are the actor’s requests and arguments in the petition; they should not be read as findings already accepted by the High Court.

The dispute follows his presence near Mumbai’s August Kranti Maidan on October 10. In the account described by NDTV, Khan says he went to understand what was happening, followed police directions and was returning towards his vehicle when reporters approached him. That description is his version of the events.
NDTV also reports that the FRRO subsequently issued a show-cause notice, which his legal team was examining. The court challenge and that further notice leave questions for the legal process to resolve. Neither the filing nor a request for a stay establishes that the October 28 direction has been cancelled.
