Hong Kong joins the theatrical rollout

Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is scheduled to open in Hong Kong on Thursday, November 12. Advance bookings are already open, Hindustan Times and India Today reported. The Hong Kong opening comes a week after the film reached India and several overseas markets on November 5, giving audiences there a separate start date for the first instalment of Nitesh Tiwari’s adaptation.

Hindustan Times reported that the Hong Kong screenings will use the Hindi audio with Chinese and English subtitles. The title appearing on overseas listings is Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, which refers to the first film. Viewers comparing schedules may find the international title rather than the shorter Ramayana used in some coverage.

Where screenings are listed

Hindustan Times, citing ticketing listings, reported screenings at venues in Mong Kok and at Langham Place, as well as Premiere Elements and cinemas in Tsuen Wan and Kwai Fong. Those listings give viewers several places to look for a show rather than a single venue. Check the local listing for the time, subtitle information and seat availability for the specific screening.

The cast of the first instalment

Ranbir Kapoor plays Rama, Sai Pallavi plays Sita and Yash plays Ravana. Tiwari directs the film, produced by Namit Malhotra. The story centres on the conflict between Rama and Ravana, with Ravie Dubey among the supporting cast as Lakshman. Hindustan Times also lists A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer as the composers. The November 12 date applies to the first film’s Hong Kong theatrical opening.

The ensemble also includes Arun Govil as Dasharatha and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, with Rakul Preet Singh playing Surpanakha, according to Hindustan Times.
