Ramayana’s makers announce an October 15 start for Sony Pictures’ international campaign, aimed at introducing the epic to audiences worldwide.
An October 15 start for the overseas campaign
The makers of Ramayana have announced an October 15 start for Sony Pictures’ international promotional campaign. In a joint message shared on October 14, Namit Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwari and Yash described the overseas push as a step towards introducing the Indian epic to audiences around the world. Moneycontrol and The Times of India separately reported the statement that evening.
The message places particular emphasis on viewers who may be encountering the story for the first time. The team expressed pride in taking an Indian production to an international audience, presenting the campaign as part of its ambition to give the adaptation a global theatrical presence.

Ranbir Kapoor plays Rama, Sai Pallavi plays Sita and Yash plays Ravana in the Nitesh Tiwari-directed adaptation. The ensemble also includes Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, according to Moneycontrol. Other named performers include Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi and Rakul Preet Singh.
The project comes from Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. It is conceived as two films. The Times of India places the first part’s international opening on November 5, 2026, with the second part planned for Diwali 2027. Those dates provide background to the new campaign announcement.

The new development is the start of the overseas promotional rollout. The joint statement does not announce a change to the cast or a new release date. It also should not be read as a review of footage or an assessment of how the finished film will perform.
For audiences following the production, October 15 is therefore a campaign milestone. The announcement outlines whom the makers want to reach: viewers beyond India, including those without an existing familiarity with the epic.
